Preparing You
& Your Family for Wildfire
Green Valley Fire Wise USA Certificate
In 2020, the Green Valley Fire Safe Council received the first Fire Wise USA designation in Solano County. To renew each year, we must demonstrate wildfire preparedness activities and show investments of volunteer hours or financial investments. In 2025, the Fire Safe Council completed another Community Wildfire Risk Assessment fulfilling the Fire Wise USA requirement every 5 years.

About Us
The Green Valley Fire Safe Council (GVFSC) formed in 2019 and was the first Fire Safe Council to form in Solano County. The GVFSC is a grassroots, community-led organization that mobilizes residents to protect their homes, communities, and environments from catastrophic wildfire. Since our inception we conducted a Community Wildfire Risk Assessment, developed a Wildfire Risk Reduction Action Plan, and demonstrated community action which led us to being designated as a Fire Wise USA community in 2020 (see Fire Wise USA Certificate below).
We launched Free Green Waste Days, held a Community Chipping Program in 2020-2021 with funds from a small grant from the California Fire Foundation, held numerous virtual and in-person trainings, and in partnership with the Cordelia Fire Protection District we applied for and secured two CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grants which was used to create the Green Valley Shaded Fuel Break that runs on the west side of Green Valley from Mason Road all the way up to the top of Green Valley next to the Vallejo Water Treatment Plant.
In addition, we launched a Reflective Address Signage Program in partnership with Solano OES and have been distributing Wildfire Preparedness information to residents.
